Today’s science experiment: Ivory soap in the microwave
When I heard about this simple, cheap, and fun experiment, I knew we had to try it.
All you need is:
Ivory Soap
Microwavable bowl
Microwave.
Directions:
1. Place the soap in the bowl and put in the microwave for 2 minutes.
2. Observe what happens to the soap.
The kids thought it was cool to see the soap grow in the microwave. They even played in it when it was done.
What is the scientific reason this experiment works? The Ivory soap has air bubbles inside it. The air bubbles also have water inside them. The water expands, which then causes the air bubbles to expand and make the bar of soap lose its regular shape.
Anyone else going to try this at home?
