Playing With Colors

Over the weekend, while organizing my back area, I just so happened to have come across this stack of canvas that I had misplaced.

Last time I seen them was at my daughter’s Rainbow Party last year. It was part of the take home crafts activities I had planned for our guests. I just so happened to have a lot left over and put them up for rainy day crafts.

Needless to say, I didn’t know where that spot was.

I thought I had them in my party activities container, but it was not there. They were in the containers with my extra fabric. Don’t ask me how they got their, because I couldn’t tell you one bit. Sometimes I get sidetracked, and forgot where I moved things.

The moral to my story…. Stay organized when you have a colossal size collection of crafts stuff to keep up with. Or, like my husband said, cut down and scale back.

Speaking of crafts, on to what we did yesterday!

Since I have reclaimed my canvas, the girls decided to do a little painting.

I had the them get the items that they needed:

  • A canvas for each of them
  • Tape (painter’s tape or white tape)
  • Paint of your choice
  • Paint brushes or sponges

We just so happened to have just finished off some eggs earlier in the morning. I thought, why not use the egg carton for paint. Turned out to be a great idea.

I had them each put the tape of the canvas in any shape or form that they would like.

My tape is white so it’s hard to see so I do not have a good picture of a the taped canvas. Next time I will invest in painters tape.
When they were done that went to town on their painting.

We left them to dry on our craft table out back.

Drying time took just a couple of hours. When ready, the girls carefully took the tape off of their canvas.

The end result is something beautiful!!

Want to add more to your own painting? Try changing it up by using stickers and painting over them. Use the tape to spell out your child’s name and have them paint over it. You can even use different items like lace or a sponge to give your painting more texture. The possibilities are endless!
