I LOVE crafting. Some could say I have an obsession with it. I am always looking for something new to make with my hands. My back patio is packed with containers full of craft supplies and crafts that I have made.
As a child, I would watch my mommy make so many things with her hands. She would always be on her sewing machine making curtains and pillows. I remember one time she had made an Eye Pillow. It was black and it was kind of shaped like a football. There was a zipper that went across the front of it. When you unzipped it, there was an eyeball looking back at you. I wish I had a picture of it to share. It was one of the coolest pillows my mommy had made.
I remember every year until high school she made my Halloween costumes from scratch. I would tell her what I wanted and she would whip something up in a matter of weeks.
She always had a knack for reupholstering and painting the furniture every six months when she thought of a new color scheme. Within a week we would have a new Living Room, Dining Room, and Bedrooms.
A few years ago, at our old place, we had a broken part on our toilet. My landlord wasn’t available that weekend, so we had to wait a few days for it to be fixed. My husband and I had previously planned a mini vacation for the weekend while my mom watched the kids. Within that weekend, she had fixed my toilet, painted, and decorated. She basically gave us a whole new bathroom. It was the best looking room in the house!
Growing up, I would always hope to be as crafty as her. Now that I have my own family and been a stay at home mom for 16 years I have done many crafty mom projects. More so over the last 10 years.
I adore what I do! I get a feeling of exhilarating when I work on a project, take a step back, and look at my finished product. I can’t quite use my sewing machine just yet but that time is coming. However, I love having the ability to do all of the other thingsĀ that I can do.
What are some craft projects you have made that you love?
