Life….. It has been taking over in the last 10 months. Since I have posted last, I have gone through a world wind of changes. As much as I love to post, I just couldn’t keep up with the demands of my life. It wasn’t falling apart at all, I just had lost my focus. Something that tends to happen here and there.
What exactly has been going on you ask? A lot! But the biggest, and most important thing that happened in 2014 was our big move. It has been an exciting few months. Hubby and I went to visit some friends in another town over, and not to long after that visit, we decided to go house hunting. We had 5 house on our list. Our relator showed us a house that wasn’t on our list, but happened to be in the area. After we looked at all of the houses. We decided to place a bid on what we felt was best for us as a family, which happened to be the house that wasn’t on our list. After 6 weeks of waiting, we finally got the green light to move. Our agent handed us the keys, hubby carried me over the threshold, and we jumped right into our move.
During the waiting period, I had already started packing. I had the kids help me get rid of stuff we didn’t need. I labeled and packaged up everything we could during our 6 week waiting period. It was rough, but well worth the work. It made moving day easier than I anticipated.
I tell you what though, if it wasn’t for my fabulous friends (Really, the BEST friends EVER), I don’t know how we could have pulled off moving everything in one day, an hour and a half away. 17 people came together to help us move. We all, including the kids, packed up one huge moving truck. Then everyone got into their cars, and drove to the new place, where I had 3 other families over to help unload the truck. We had close to 30 people, Adults and kids, helping us move. Half of which ended up staying the night. I offered food, drinks, shelter, and love to all that was involved. I guess you can say we had a moving party. Something that I reccomend to anyone that is moving. Grab as many people as you can, get them to help you move, and fill them with good food and lots of alcohol when you are done lol. This move may have been far, but it was well worth it all for what we have been blessed with. I must say though, moving weekend was EPIC!
It’s been quite the adjustment for all of us. Hubby had a new commute to get uses to. Going from an hour commute to a 2 hours commute gave me anxiety. Hubby is an excellent and alert driver, but that doesn’t mean that others around him are as well. I pray for him every morning, and every afternoon when he leaves work. I praise God every evening that he makes it home for dinner. Now, don’t get me wrong. It’s not a deathly drive or anything like that. It’s just a long one, and I’m a worry wart.
As far as the kids go, all of them are in new schools, and are trying to meet new friends. Something that they are not use to, because we had lived on our old block for almost 10 years. It took some time to get uses to being the new kids on the block in the beginning. However, they have settled in well, and have found some new friends. I too am trying get use to our new home, neighborhood, and schedules. It’s been a roller coaster ride of craziness, but a fun one. All I know is, we are homeowners now! It’s has been very exciting for all of us.
So, what are my plans for the new year? Well, my goal is to continue building and flourishing in my relationship with God. I’m going to continue being the best mother and wife that I can be, which will always be my first priority. My biggest excitement thus far for this year is signing up for a sewing class that I will be attending next month. I can’t wait to go, learn a new craft, and share what I’ve learned with you all. I hope to be able to make my own clothes by the summer!
I am truly thankful for the blessings of the 2014, and I am excited to see what 2015 brings for my family and I.
