This dish is a crowd pleaser. Whenever I have the kid’s friends stay the night this is the dish that is requested. This Casserole is what we have in place of pizza. I came across the original recipe a couple of years ago on a fellow Mom’s site. Her site has since disappeared, however, I did manged to find it listed on another site, here.
Over time, I have changed the recipe up to accommodate my family. I have made this recipe with Ground Turkey, Ground Chicken, Turkey Pepperoni, and whole wheat pasta. Instead of pasta sauce I use pizza sauce. I’ve also added veggies likes mushrooms and green peppers.
This time around, Hubby request that I add his favorite meats into the casserole. He is a red meat fan and I have cut it out of our diet quite a bit. He is always a good sport when it comes to me trying to feed him healthier meals, so his requests do not go unnoticed.
This is my adaption of the Pizza Casserole
Ingredients:
1 bag of egg noodles
3-4 jars or bottles of Pizza sauce
4 cups of Shredded Mozzarella

foil

Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees
Brown the sausage and ground beef. Drain when done.
Cook the noodles until soft and then drain
I grabbed my mini baking dishes so that I could start layering the food.
The first layer is the pizza sauce on the bottom
Next layer is the noodles. Put enough in to cover us up the sauce.
Now place a layer of the beef mixture into the bowl
Continue layering with noodles, then cheese
Now a layer of sauce, then cheese
I added another layer of sauce
Last but not least, I topped the casserole with pepperoni
I put the casseroles on a cookie sheet, covered it with foil, and bake for 30 minutes covered. Take the foil off and bake for another 10-15 minutes if you want the top to be a bit more crusted.
We had some friends over for dinner so I made these mini ones for the kids.
And I made this one for the adults to eat.
I served it with a salad and garlic biscuits.
Have you heard of this dish before? How would you change it up to meet your family needs?

I have made a pizza pasta, but it’s a little different.
I like the idea of the small servings, they’d be great for a sleepover or kids party.
Yes they are. I love cooking in little baking dishes. Makes portion control easier and it’s just cute 🙂
