Yesterday, I finally went back to Bootcamp after a 2 week hiatus. It was tough, just like I expected, but it was a good workout.
The trainer had us doing a lot of circuit training and cardio. The focus for the day was on Triceps and Shoulders. I am feeling the workout in my muscles right now as I type. It’s a feeling that I’m use to though. I enjoy the signs of a good workout.
Workout has been a big part of my life since January. Since I have started, I have seen a great deal of improvement overall. You can read a little more about it here
There are a lot of things that I do to stay in shape. I try to eat right and exercise regularly. Other than my bootcamp, I also like to run, do Zumba at home, get on my elliptical, use my weight bench, find challenges to do monthly, and I recently added bike riding.
When I’m out running I like to keep a record of how far I’m going. I like to set goals and challenges for myself to go even further then the last. My favorite app to use when I run and ride my bike is MyMyRun.
I have been using it for a couple of years now. I love that I can just hit record and it will keep track of my run.
The app shows me a map of my trail. It records my distance, pace, and even the calories that I burn.
It also has some other good features that will help aid in your exercising.
Hiking is another great way for me to exercise. I found an app that gives you a list of local trails in your area. Check out All Trails
At home I use Zumba Core. I love dancing so naturally, dancing away calories seemed right up my ally. I like that I can make my own playlist to jam to. I can choose if I want a short class (20 minutes), a medium class (45 minutes), or a full class (65 minutes). When you move up on levels you get bonus videos from the teachers with tips for your workout. I think it’s a cool game to use for exercise. You have fun burning calories, you sweat hard, and you get results.
A month or so ago hubby got us this elliptical. A month before that he got us our workout bench. Both are great in helping me stay on top of my workouts at home. During my hiatus from bootcamp I still used my equipment. Now that I’m back, I plan to put together a regimen that will work for me on my off days from bootcamp.
I just invested in some new dumbbells, gloves, and I found my resistant band! I love my dumbbells. They are much more comfortable in my hands then the metal dumbbells.
As far as my eating goes, I love, love food. I use to eat everything that was in my path. I’m was never a bad eater, but I can admit to overeating until my stomach hurt. Now I am more cautious of not only what I eat but also how much. I read labels and I really try to stay on track. Food logging helps me BIG time. I use MyFitnessPal. I can record everything I eat and be on top of what I put in my body. What you eat and how much of it is key. A few months ago I went to see my doctor for a check up. I explained to her my worry of taking in enough nutrients in my body. I showed her my food logs from my app and she was amazed. She said I was right on track for a healthy lifestyle. I mentioned not taken any vitamins and I was informed that, from what I was eating, I had fed myself the nutrients that my body needed so I have no reason to take vitamin supplements.
I have a passion for fitness and eating right. I enjoy the results that I get. I love that I’m taking care of the body that God gifted me. A year ago I would have never thought I’d be where I am today physically, and that’s awesome in my book.
Are you into fitness? Do you watch what you eat?
