As mothers, we run around trying to balance all that we do. Working, taking care of home, being there for the kids, and give your partner time as well. It can be exhausting for sure. However, it’s important that we first take time to set aside for ourselves. Doing helps us to stay on track. Keeping us form feeling run down and overworked.
Here are 5 things that I do to having better Mommy days.
Get Up Early.
They say the early bird catches the worm. In my case, the early Mom fills her sanity bucket to the top before taking on the day. For me, getting up early means I’m have time to myself. Time to journal. Time to talk to God. Time to drink some tea. Time to have breakfast in piece and guiet. Carving out the me time leads to a happier morning, and results in a happier day.
Drink Lots Of Water.
No, seriously, a LOT of water. At least the recommended eight cups. I wasn’t always a fan of drinking water. I use to go days without drinking water. I was also irritable, always fatigue, and my thirst was never satisfied. I would always want more soda and other drinks. More sugar. It was a vicious cycle that I just didn’t want to be apart of anymore. A few years ago, I gave up on soda, coffee, and juice. When I gave the sugary drinks up I noticed a huge change in how my body felt. I’m in a better mood, I’ feel energized, and my weight went down. Which was something that I didn’t even consider when I started drinking water regularly. Now, I drink water and tea all day, everyday day, like it’s going out of style.
Exercise
Exercising has been proven to boast your feel-good endorphins. It keeps depression at bay, and gives you energy. It’s a stress reliever. It helps to boost brain power, sharpen your memory. Exercising has been known to help you tap into your creative side. There have been plenty of times during my one pf my jogging sessions that I have come up with my plan, dish, or craft. I know that not everyone wants to exercise, but I promise you, if you just walk 30 minutes of walking to your day, you will definitely see a change in your mood and energy level.
Have your own interests.
Aside from what you do with your kids and your husband, find your own hobbies and passions. Do you like to dance? Take some dance lessons. You like flowers? Start your own garden. You love to write? Write an ebook. Write down all the things you want to do or accomplish in like, and start crossing things of the list. Finding interests for yourself doesn’t mean you are being selfish or neglecting the kids. It just means you love yourself, and you kids enough to work on you so that you can be a happier mommy that feel more full-filled in her life.
Take care of yourself, and your soul.
I take time for myself. I take moments to slow down. I read. Take relaxing baths. Takes naps when I’m tired. Say no when I need to, so I don’t run myself to death. I give myself home spa treatments, and I meditate. I’m pretty admit about writing in my journal. Writing in my journal feeds my soul, and I do it everyday. It helps me in so many ways. Writing keeps me humble, and keeps me filled with gratitude. I’ve had a few epiphanies, and Aha moments during my many writing sessions. Sometimes, when I’m have a bad moment, I take a moment to jot down and remind myself of what I am grateful for. I tell myself that it’s ok to let go, and move on. For me, writing is therapeutic, and a great way yo take care of myself and my spirit.
Don’t be so hard on yourself.
Cut yourself some slack if you mess up. It happens even to the best of moms. Don’t dwell on things you can not change, and don’t stress over spilled milk, because at the end of the day, it won’t matter. What will matter is how hard you are on yourself, and what message that may be sending to your kids. Show them that it’s not the end of the world if things don’t go our way.
No matter what you do or how you do, it’s important to make sure you take care of yourself. Putting yourself first means you love your family enough to take care of you so that they can get the best of you.
