4 Reasons Why You Should Never Skip Breakfast + New Recipe

Breakfast, the first and most important meal of the day, as well as the most skipped meal of the day. You should never, ever miss having a meal in the morning. Whether you have time for a hot eggs and bacon breakfast, or you are on the go and grab a yogurt and cheese stick on your way out the door, it’s important to feed your body what it needs, first thing in the morning to get you going for the day.

  • Eating certain foods for breakfast gives your body and mind the fuel that it needs to take on the day. Breakfast boost your energy level, and keeps you focused. Breakfast aids in helping kids pay attention in school, and adults to be more alert at work. Your blood sugar levels are low after a good nights sleep. A breakfast with whole grains, proteins and high-fiber foods will help to regulate your blood glucose levels. By doing so, eating breakfast helps our brains to perform better, and stay on task.
  • Eating breakfast is crucial for weight loss. Numerous studies have proven this to be true. A healthy breakfast not only fuels the body, but also helps to curb you hunger throughout the day. Keep your metabolism from getting sluggish by eating some eggs or oatmeal at the start of your day.
  • Skipping breakfast is bad for your heart. Research done by the Harvard School of Public Health, shows that men who regularly skipped breakfast are 27% more likely to have a heart attack than those who regularly eat breakfast. Keep your heart strong by eating foods with the right nutrients and vitamins that are needed to supply your body.
  • Skipping breakfast can be harmful. Your body has been fasting throughout the night while you sleep. If you leave the house without breakfast, chances are, you will be running on fumes, and you will become sluggish and unfocused before lunchtime. Some, like me, you can become Hangry. You know, that state of anger or having snappy attitude due to a lack of food.

Have you ever seen the snickers commercial where a person is snappy until someone hands them a snickers bar? Yeah, That’s me! Sometimes, I don’t know who I am, when I miss a meal. I snap, eat, then I have to come back and apologize to people that were caught in the wrath of my Hanger LOL.

I’ve learned how crucial it is for me to eat breakfast. Right now, my go to breakfast ingredients are quinoa or oatmeal. Two healthy carbs to fuel my mornings.

    • Thank you! For awhile, it was hard for me too, Marilyn. What I have noticed is that when I don’t eat breakfast, I become moody, tired, unfocused, and nauseated. Now, I make it a point to make eating breakfast a priority in the morning.
