WARNING! I promise you, these beans taste SOOOOO good.
My beans are always requested every time I’m invited to a friend’s house for a bbq or I have a gathering of my own. There is no me without my beans apparently. That’s a testament to just how good they are.
Ingredients:
Cooking Spray (Homemade recipe here)
1 pound of ground beef
2 tablespoons vegetable oil or olive oil
1 large onion, finely chopped
28 ounce can of honey or maple baked beans
1/2 cup packed light brown sugar
1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
1 1/4 teaspoons salt
1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
10 slices bacon
Instructions:
Preheat oven to 350°F
Coat a 2-quart casserole dish with cooking spray then set aside
In a large skillet, cook the ground beef. Add onions
While cooking, use a fork to separate the meat. Drain when meat is done.
In a large bowl, combine the beef and onions with the all of the ingredients except the bacon.
Take 5 pieces of bacon and crumble them into the mixture; mix well.
Set the other 5 pieces to the side.
Pour the mixture into the prepared casserole, then arrange the bacon slices on top.
Cover with a lid or aluminum foil and bake about 30 minutes or until thick and bubbly.
Uncover dish and preheat broiler. Broil for 1 to 2 minutes or until the bacon is crisp.

Do you think this would still taste good without the ground beef? We are having burgers and I need to bring a side.
I haven’t tried it, but I believe that it will still be good with the ground beef. Try it out and let me know how it came out 🙂
