Last week was a HOT week at 104 degrees! These triple digit temperatures are no joke. Before we moved out here to the valley, I had no idea that the weather was going to be this hot. I’m glad that my home as a good air conditioning unit, and a nice pool to keep us cool. Or else, I would have been roasting like a turkey in the oven on Thanksgiving.
To help cool us down even more, we have been making homemade ice cream regularly. One of our favorites is banana ice cream. This yummy ice cream is creamy and delicious. There’s no dairy products, and no added sugars. A healthy treat that is easy, that’s sweet to eat.
You will need:
- 4 Ripe, Frozen Banana
- 1 Tbs Peanut Butter
- 1 Tbs Cocoa Powder
First, if you haven’t put your bananas in the freezer, I suggest you do that before you start making ice cream. Peel, and cut your bananas. I suggest that you slice your bananas before putting them in a sealed container, and placing them in the freezer. In the picture below, I cut the bananas in thirds, but it took longer for them to break down.
Once your bananas are frozen, put them inside you food processor.
Blend the bananas until smooth.
You can stop here and eat it as is, or you can continue to the next step.
Add in the peanut butter, and mix it.
Then, you can add the cocoa powder.
When mixing is done, you are left with cream goodness that leaves your stomach happy. Can’t go wrong with just 3 ingredients, and 10 minutes of your time, right?
You can also add other ingredients to your banana ice cream.
Add a avocado to your ice cream like I did with this batch below.
Making it not only taste good, but a bit healthier for you too.
Toasted coconuts is another yummy add-in that I love.
I toasted coconuts flakes by cooking them in a pan, constantly stirring, on medium heat, for about 10 minutes.
Have a little Fun with it, and come up with your own add-ins to satisfy your tastebuds.
